Our Commitment
to Speed, Durability, and Ease of Use
In 1984, Robert Parrish, President and CEO
of Decorative Curbmaking Machines®, Inc., a 35 year veteran of
the concrete business, began looking for a better way to form
decorative curbing. He was in search of manufacturing the true
concrete curb machine.
The problem with existing curb machines was that they
had a ram that delivered mortar from the hopper to the mold
losing 50% of the positive energy as the ram returned to
pick-up the material. Material had to be mixed very dry making
installation and finishing more difficult as well as causing
extruded material to break and weather poorly from lack of
good compaction. Curbing produced by these machines can start
deteriorating in as little as two to three years. Speed was
also a problem, existing curb machines could only extrude 2 to
3 feet a minute.
Together with his father Walter, a hydraulic engineer, they
designed and patented a machine that addressed these problems.
A machine that is far superior to anything on the market today.
The decorative curbmaking machine® advantage. This patented
concrete curb machine allows the use of aggregate added to the
standard ingredients of mortar (water, cement and sand) to
produce true concrete curbing. Our curb machine is faster,
more durable and easier to operate than any other machine on
the market today.
Fast - The Decorative Curbmaking Machine® is
auger driven delivering a constant flow of smooth workable
material requiring a minimal amount of finishing. The
constant motion of the auger allows a much higher slump and
compacted material to be used therefore creating a smoother
product to be extruded into the tube forming whatever shape is
desired. The Decorative Curbmaking Machine® is a workhorse.
It's hydraulically powered auger can put down 10 to 15 feet of
6000 PSI concrete curbing per minute, depending on the mold
being used, allowing an experienced three man crew to install
600 to 1000 feet per day.
Durable - Durability is the
key. Our auger system and produces a concrete curbing
product that is stronger, larger and will last longer than the
old piston or plunger type curbing machines, retaining its
look for years to come. A wetter mix and the constant movement
of the auger in the Decorative Curbmaking Machine® means less
work is needed in the finishing phase and gives the curbing a
smoother look. The higher density DecoCurb can be made into a
variety of colors and design finishes, in addition, with the
aggregate added in the mix and a quick spray before the
product sets, the aggregate can be left exposed creating a
very unique desirable custom finish.
Easy to Use - NO
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! Even with little or no concrete
experience, the Decorative Curbmaking Machine® is designed for
the beginner as well as the seasoned pro. Easy to operate and
maintain, you'll quickly become an expert producing quality
concrete curbing that can sell itself. We hope you will enjoy
"The True Concrete Curb Machine."
Common Sense and Nonsense
"It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money-that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot-it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better."
John Ruskin (1819-1900)
